Not only do well, but also do good.

Princeton Venture Philanthropy, officially registered at Princeton University, works to advance global philanthropy and international development by bringing together people who care—enabling them to discover one another, trust one another, and work together.

Our conviction

The world does not only suffer from a lack of resources, but from a lack of alignment.

Our role

We exist to close the alignment gap between talent, knowledge and capital with real-world challenges that matter.

Across the impact ecosystem, many of the necessary ingredients already exist: philanthropic capital within foundations and family offices; talent cultivated at Princeton and other global universities; urgent challenges identified by NGOs, social enterprises, and communities on the ground; and expertise among investors, policymakers, operators, and industry leaders.

Yet these resources often remain fragmented. Capital does not always find the right problems. Students do not always find meaningful pathways into impact work. Social entrepreneurs do not always reach the networks that can help them scale. Institutions with shared missions often lack a trusted mechanism for collaboration.

The alignment gap

Ability, resources, and need rarely arrive in the same room.

The work begins by seeing where alignment breaks down rather than treating every challenge as a shortage of ideas or money.

01

The Talent Gap

The world has no shortage of talented, purpose-driven young people. What it lacks is the infrastructure to find them, develop them, and connect them to institutions where they can do real good.

Potential is not a pipeline.

02

The Ecosystem Gap

Global philanthropy needs local infrastructure. Local organizations, foundations, and families hold knowledge, capital, and goodwill, yet often lack the connective infrastructure to act together.

Good intention is not curated impact.

03

The Capital Gap

The tools of venture building can help public-purpose work, but only when incentives, evidence, and long-term support are deliberately designed around impact.

Capital is not a public mandate.

PVP as infrastructure

We connect dots between institutions that cannot individually see across the whole system.

PVP builds the connective infrastructure through which talent, knowledge, capital, and real-world challenges can discover one another, trust one another, and work together. Our cross-sector network is designed to connect established philanthropic traditions with emerging impact ecosystems across six global bridges in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, Africa, and Latin America.

This infrastructure is not a mailing list. It is a curated, actively managed exchange built on real relationships, shared analysis, and a common commitment to the disciplined pursuit of social impact. PVP is not simply about doing good; it is about designing the systems that make good intentions actionable, measurable, and scalable.

Our model

From discovery to system building.

The sequence is iterative. Evidence can send a team backward; trust can open a new path forward. The model creates enough structure to learn without pretending the work is linear.

  1. 01

    Discover

Find important problems, promising people, and overlooked local capacity.

  2. 02

    Connect

Build trust across builders, practitioners, researchers, and supporters.

  3. 03

    Support

Combine catalytic resources with mentorship and practical assistance.

  4. 04

    Experiment

Test assumptions in the field before treating a model as an answer.

  5. 05

    Learn

Turn evidence—including failure—into better judgment and shared knowledge.

  6. 06

    Scale

Help credible experiments become stronger organizations, systems, or institutions.

Operating principles

Awe in the face of the Unknown.

01

Locally grounded

Context and trusted local relationships come before imported solutions.

02

Globally connected

Knowledge and opportunity should travel without erasing place.

03

Trust-based

Relationships are infrastructure, not a by-product of transactions.

04

Action-oriented

Convening matters when it changes what people can do together.

05

Evidence-informed

Learning, measurement, and honest revision strengthen every intervention.

06

Long-term

Institution building requires continuity beyond a single event or grant.

Our anchor

Princeton offers a place to think across boundaries—and a community from which to build.

PVP draws on the curiosity, disciplines, and relationships of a university community while remaining student-led. Princeton is a starting point for exchange: local knowledge and leadership remain essential wherever the work takes place.
